What is ANA?

ANA stands for Association of Nigerians Abroad.

ANA, a body of Nigerians and friends of Nigeria was formed out of NaijaNet to work towards improving the technological, educational, economic, and democratic goals of Nigerians. The body itself is a political but has served in the recent past as a medium of expressing the opinions of Nigerians abroad to the Nigerian government.

ANA has its membership drawn from USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Norway, Finland, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Denmark, South Africa, Botswana, Japan, Hong Kong, Russia and so on.

Objectives

The stated objectives of ANA include:

  1. Contributing actively towards the social, economic, educational, technological, and political development of Nigeria;
  2. Promoting mutual understanding among the members of the Association;
  3. Projecting a positive image of Nigeria and her cultural values;
  4. Gather and disseminate information which is pertinent to Nigeria and/or beneficial to Nigerians;
  5. Serving as a channel of communication with the people and government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with respect to the opinions, wishes, and aspirations of Nigerians in diaspora;
  6. Explore, establish, and implement programs for the improvement of the educational system and institutions in Nigeria.

Status

The Association is non-profit, non-ethnic, non-religious, and non-partisan. However, the Association when necessary, advocates for democratic ideals, human rights, the rule of law, fairness, justice, and equity in Nigeria and for all Nigerians.
