Association of Nigerians Abroad Announces Winners of the 2006 Scholarship Awards

The Association of Nigerians Abroad (ANA) (www.ananet.org) hereby announces the ten winners of the 2006 university scholarship award competition.  Below is the list of the ten successful applicants selected from various universities. Each winner receives the sum of twenty thousand naira (N20, 000), which is awarded on a one-time basis, to supplement their educational expenses for the full academic year.

ANA initiated the scholarship program in 1999, and by the end of 2006, it has awarded over thirty scholarships to Nigerian students that are studying in Nigerian universities. ANA believes that academic excellence is a hallmark of any educational system and it should be a non-negotiable fundamental objective of governments, individuals and progressive organizations.

ANA is a non-profit, non-ethnic, non-religious, and non-partisan organization. However, the association shall consistently and unequivocally advocate for democratic ideals, human rights, rule of law, fairness, justice, and equity in Nigeria and for all Nigerians. The composition of the association reflects the rich ethnic and cultural diversity of Nigeria.

ANA major activities in 2007
The call for applications for the 2007 scholarship competition will be announced soon on the association website.  Also, the 3rd ANA conference/exposition is scheduled for September 14-16, 2007, in Houston, Texas.  See announcement on the ANA website (www.ananet.org).
